Sprite Gizmo Fortnite — Use a Sprite Gizmo
Equip your Pickaxe, hold the Pickaxe button to bring up the Gizmo Wheel, highlight the tool you want, then let go of the button to activate it. The Gizmo remains active until you swap back to a weapon or item, which turns it off right away. [search-ca6b62836cd4]

What You Need
- Gizmos are not found as floor loot or in Chests. You unlock them by progressing Sprite Mastery through your Sprite collection, or by buying eligible ones at Extraction Sites during a match. [search-ca6b62836cd4]
- Check the Gizmo Wheel at the start of a match to see which tools you have unlocked; if only a few show up, keep building Sprite Mastery for more options. [search-ca6b62836cd4]
Step-by-Step
Switch to your Pickaxe. Gizmos live in the Pickaxe slot rather than your five inventory slots, so your weapons and heals stay untouched.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
Hold the Pickaxe button instead of tapping it to open the Gizmo Wheel, then move your mouse or controller stick to highlight the Gizmo you want.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
Let go of the button to activate the highlighted Gizmo. Only one can be active at a time, but you can swap between them instantly.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
Match the tool to your goal: the Portable Extractor extracts Sprites anywhere on the island, the Sprite Locator detects nearby buried Sprite Chests, and the Extraction Site Booster increases Sprite Dust from Boosted Extraction Crates.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
If you get attacked while using a Gizmo like the Portable Extractor, you can cancel it mid-use and get straight back into the fight.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
For the "Use a Gizmo From Your Pickaxe Slot" quest, just open the Gizmo Wheel and activate any Gizmo you have — the Portable Extractor is not required.[search-ca6b62836cd4]
Common Mistakes
- Don't linger in the Gizmo Wheel during a fight — you are vulnerable while selecting a Gizmo and cannot defend yourself. [search-ca6b62836cd4]
- Save the Portable Extractor for rare Sprites (Mythic, Galaxy, or Special) so you don't risk losing them while travelling to an Extraction Site. [search-ca6b62836cd4]

Fortnite FAQ
Do Fortnite Gizmos take up inventory slots?
No. Gizmos sit in the Pickaxe slot, separate from your five inventory slots, so activating one never forces you to drop a weapon, healing item, or utility. [search-ca6b62836cd4]
